Welcome to Midlands Rush Online!

Welcome to the new official site for the most diverse underground music station in the Midlands.

Facebook Group Twitter Page MySpace Page If you're not already in the know, Midlands Rush is a local radio station based in Shropshire which brings a mixture of Underground and Commercial Dance sounds including Drum & Bass, House, Trance, Bassline House, Hip Hop, Funk, Hardcore and Techno to your radio.

It was the brainchild of a few individuals who were fed up of the lack and dismissal of variety of music on Radio - these missing genres taking dancefloors by storm. Founded in October 2006, the station has been broadcasting through times hard and good, to provide a service that is catered no where else in the Midlands.

The station has built up a massive audience and fan-base from all areas of the UK, consisting of mainly 13-35 year olds who tune in most weekends. The station also has a share of oversea listeners who tune in the World-over via the Internet.

With over 20 DJs who represent the Underground Scene in Shropshire and the Midlands, bringing what's being played on the dancefloor to the listener's radio, Midlands Rush is seen as the 'keystone' in the bridge that is the Shropshire music scene.

Whats going down

It’s another nail in the coffin for good radio.

Posted 12th April 2010

On Friday 9th April 2010 at approximately 10AM, Midlands Rush experienced a raid on broadcasting equipment which included the seizure of a Midpoint Link Transmitter, Stream Server and Main FM Transmitter.  One individual was also arrested.

This is the final straw for us, and we have taken the very difficult decision to bring Midlands Rush, as it is now, to an end.

We would like to thank each and everyone so much for making us who we are over the past four years through times good and hard.  Thank you to all of our dedicated listeners who tuned in the world over every weekend, all of our DJs, MCs and Performers who have passed through the Midlands Rush studios and all who helped out behind the scenes to get decent choice and music to your radios.

Radio in this country is a strange and difficult game.  There is limited choice on FM and even DAB band, and sadly this might be the reason why more listeners are moving away from it and listening to Internet radio stations or their iPods.  It’s also why DJs and Producers are moving away from what they do, where they should be pushed, as we pushed all our artists on Midlands Rush.  For commercial radio, it’s all about how much money you can make, not local matters or fresh and cutting edge talent and music.  The law is backwards and needs changing, how the authorities can say providing an alternative blend of music is a serious criminal offence is barking.  They are supposed to make it fair and just for people to get on air, but to this day it is still increasingly difficult, both physically and financially.

This is not strictly the end though, we’re not going to give up the fight for good radio.  We are in the process of launching a campaign to apply for an RSL and Community licence to do things legally.  If you’d like to get involved with this, drop us an e-mail on info@midlandsrush.co.uk

We have also set up a petition page to leave your thoughts and comments, so please take your time to fill it in.  Remember your thoughts and comments may help us with our campaign to get on air legally.  The petition is reached at http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/midsrushcampaign/ and remember to pass this link on to your friends and family who also listened to Midlands Rush.

Once again can we thank you all for your support and love over the last four years.  Keep the faith!

Happy Easter!

Posted 3rd April 2010

Easy all! Happy Easter and Bank Holiday!

Just a quick update on what's going down....

Firstly we're organising some shows for Bank Holiday Monday, so make sure you stay locked in to the big one! Lineups will be posted on our Facebook Group once it's all confirmed. Starting from this Wednesday also, we have new additions to the lineup all the way from Stoke-side! Ben Carr will kick off at 7PM (GMT) on a Hard Dance tip, and then from 9PM Marty Mart will take you through with his usual selection of either Oldskool or House along with his usual babbling on the mic!

Secondly, this announcement is for all the Drum and Bass heads. All the way from Leeds on a road trip, Steppa and Kitcha, aka 'Northern Lights' (Radio Frequency Leeds, BBC 1XTRA, Grid Recordings), will be stopping off at the Midlands Rush studio for a session alongside MC's Rafta (Random Concept Academy Competition Winner 2010) and Eruption on Saturday 17th of this month from 9PM! Make sure you lock into that one, it's gonna be massive!

Once again have a good Easter, don't overdo it too much and see you on the other side!

Keep it locked to the big one!

Just a quick update!

Posted 10th March 2010

We're back in full force! Remember you can now check us out in Stereo quality too! Let's update you with what's going on...

Site updates are coming. I know we've been saying that for a while, but they truely are... we've been having some minor glitches getting it done and minor neglect due to getting the station up and running again. Bare with us!

We are looking for DJs who are able to commit to weekly two hour slots in our schedule, so if you think you've got what it takes, send an online demo along with a bit about yourself to info@midlandsrush.co.uk.

Also, if you want to advertise/promote an event or a business, why not get a radio advert with us? We're guaranteed to beat any other radio station's quote. Drop an e-mail with details about your advert to info@midlandsrush.co.uk, and let's see what we can do!

Ravin Eye, a magazine aimed at ravers and party-goers mainly in the UK, have been down to interview the Midlands Rush team too! The article should be published in April/May, so keep your eyes pealed! There's a mention of a special listener in there aswell ;). Big up to the Ravin Eye crew and Gazy J for linking us!

Don't forget, get your arses down to Beats Poverty tomorrow at Top Cats, Shrewsbury. There's two bands: Hazah and The Mix, and also Jay Dubz, Lych and Buzzword spinning some tunes until 1AM. It's 4 squid on the door, and all proceeds go to building new resources at Miriu School in Kenya. Be there or be a shape with four pointy corners!

Keep the faith! Keep it locked to the big one! ;)

Into 2010...

Posted 22nd January 2010

Hope you all had a good Christmas and New Year!

We will be back very soon, but for now we're relaying Radio Frequency from Leeds to keep you entertained.

We are taking on DJs to fill spare slots in our lineup, so if you're a DJ or Producer, why not send us a demo to demos@midlandsrush.co.uk? We will consider every style.

Don't forget, check out our Facebook Group, Twitter Page and Myspace Page (the links are on the 'Get Interactive' label near the top) for updates.

Take it easy and keep it locked!

The usual studio phone number is out of action and we shall be getting a new number in 2010, so listen out for numbers and e-mail addresses on air to send your shoutouts and requests to!
